So far, I've been enjoying my summer break. I've been birding on Florida's east coast in Brevard County.

I'll be in Titusville, spending the weekend with my mom. Have a wonderful Mothers Day, Xanga Moms!

I've got Bunny out back, green Araucana eggs from a friend, and lunch with one of my girls and family after church. Hoping your Easter is as bountiful.

Nathaniel Alexander was born 3-21-11. 8lbs 7oz. Mom had to have a c-section, but both are doing well.

My youngest was due to give birth yesterday, but no baby yet. Spring Break begins Friday afternoon. I'll be flying to Washington State on Saturday. I warned them at work that I'm not coming home until I see a baby...

I chaperoned our prom last Friday night. With my students, it is a challenge. They get over-stimulated and tend to act inappropriately. All in all, they did a great job and had a good time. Due to confidentiality issues, my ability to publish pictures is limited, but you'll get the idea.
This month's poetry homework (mine) was to write a children's poem. I projected it on the Smartboard and had my students watch me write it as a writing exercise. It is a "thinking aloud" strategy. They voted for or against inclusion of certain lines.
The Something and the Nothing
The something and the nothing
went out to take a walk;
when Something said to Nothing,
“I think we need to talk.”
But Nothing just kept walking,
he never said a word;
getting something out of Nothing
is really quite absurd.

Tonight's poetry group was cancelled due to tornado warnings, so I'll share it with you instead.

My youngest (owner of 4 cats) and me going to the Animal Shelter is like two drunks in a liquor store promising, "We won't buy anything, we'll just look at the pretty bottles."
Happy New Year!

Christmas was lovely. We eat buffet-style on Christmas Eve and then browse all day Christmas. OK, we're still browsing...
